My involvement in conservation work comes from my love for the wilderness and the oceans. The wild places and creatures in our world need our support.

There are five species of rhinos worldwide and all are a critically endangered species.
My particular interest is in East Africa where up to 98% of the black rhino has been poached. Happily conservation programmes are now starting to make a difference. The excellent Save the Rhino website has some fascinating information and news updates.

• Trustee of the Selous Trust
The Selous Game Reserve in southern Tanzania is Africa’s largest game reserve and the second largest area in the world set aside for wildlife (after Antarctica). It is a vast, uninhabited expanse of wilderness approximately 50% larger than Belgium, which stretches over more than 50,000 square kilometres. It is a UNESCO heritage site and recognised globally for its extraordinary diversity—and one of the last populations of wild black rhino. Learn more from the website.
